Day 1

Arrive in Boulder at the fabulous St. Julien Hotel as we prepare for a weekend of training at altitude. Enjoy our kickoff lunch and introduction of your Running Expert and Host, as we discuss goals and objectives. Take to the track at CU for a time trial run, complete with videotaping of your running form, followed by our first easy/aerobic afternoon run where we venture through the stones at the base of the Flatirons. Enjoy dinner at a local establishment while discussing flexibility and stretching, before reviewing your video with our Running Expert back at the hotel.

Day 2

Join us for our morning breakfast complete with discussion about “strides” and the importance of differentiation of pace and intensity within training runs.  Today’s run takes you through the Boulder Creek Path, which starts up in Boulder Canyon and winds its way through downtown and alongside Boulder Creek. This run is a quintessential Boulder experience, where the mile markers are made of large stones and spectacular canyon views give way to fly fisherman and people kayaking in the creek. Spend the rest of the afternoon exploring Boulder and relaxing, followed by an afternoon session on proper running form and technique.

Day 3

After breakfast at the hotel prepare for a day out on the road. Bear Peak in the Flatirons is difficult to get to, but worth it once you see the view. The summit will provide spectacular panoramas of the Boulder Valley, as well as Denver off in the distance. Here, we conduct our session on Functional Strength Exercises followed by a 1 hour run over moderately and hilly terrain. Today’s run will include strides, tempo segments and hill surges, where we practice both uphill and downhill running technique. End the day with a full stretch and short nutrition session before a late dinner and music in the hotel's courtyard.

Day 4

Start the day with energy food provided by your Host before taking off on a famous loop around the University of Colorado called the Coot Lake 5 Miler. Be on the lookout as many elite athletes use this as their morning warm up run. This will be coupled with additional mileage making this our long run for the trip between 1-2 hours depending on your ability level. Cool down and relax afterwards with a Yoga session and lunch in the St. Julien Spa where you receive custom training information crafted by our Running Experts.
